State Coastal Officials Seeking Proposals for Conservation and Restoration Fund Projects
BATON ROUGE -- Louisiana coastal restoration and protection officials are seeking project proposals from landowners, non-governmental organizations and concerned citizens for coastal conservation and restoration projects that would benefit from additional funding from the Conservation and Restoration Partnership Fund.

Louisiana Officials Take Step to Require the Corps of Engineers to Beneficially Use Lower Mississippi River Dredged Material
BATON ROUGE -- The state of Louisiana took a bold step today to require the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to use sediment dredged from the Mississippi River to restore eroded wetlands in Louisiana - rather than wasting the material.
A letter sent by the state to U.S Secretary of Commerce Gary Locke will trigger a provision in federal law providing for Locke to assist in the development of a solution to ensure unimpeded maritime commerce on the Mississippi River while ending the corps' practice of discarding dredged sediment that could be used to restore Louisiana's disappearing coast.

Donaldsonville to the Gulf Review Panel to Hold Public Meeting November 18 in Thibodaux
THIBODAUX, La. -- The Donaldsonville-to-the-Gulf Science and Engineering Review Panel will conduct a public meeting on Wednesday, November 18 from 8:30 a.m. until 5:15 p.m. in Thibodaux at the Wetlands Acadian Cultural Center located at 314 St. Mary Street. The 11-member panel will evaluate and make recommendations to the Coastal protection and Restoration Authority concerning the Donaldsonville-to-the-Gulf Hurricane Protection System currently being examined by state, federal and local flood protection officials.

Within eight days of being sworn in, Gov. Jindal signed an executive order requiring all state agencies to use their full authority and funding to advance the state's coastal master plan.
